A Desert of Fragments

If the Borges Fable talked about the shreds of an Empire’s map that rot across the desert, French philosopher Jean Baudrillard throws light that today the shreds of our territory itself rot across the extent of the map, constituting the desert of the real. It would be impossible for one to not relate this fact with the desert city Las Vegas which is known to be a place of ‘creative destruction’ and ‘implosion capital’. In this universe of simulation dominated by hyperreal, the existence of ‘real’ is fragmented and in ruins. The artwork presents the virtual world of a game inspired from this concept in which the protagonist is searching for the lost fragments of the real.
