Alzheimer's & Architecture – Design Dialogue

This work was produced during my final year research project which attempts to develop an experiential understanding of Architecture and Alzheimer's Disease. Through my project I developed an ongoing collaboration with my father, who suffers from Young-onset Alzheimer's disease. As Alzheimer's effects the language centres of the brain, the aim of this work was to develop other methods of communication to develop a design dialogue for a 1:1 built project. The design developed through an ongoing conversation by sharing physical models and drawings, engaging in issues of memory, tactility and language.
