Delhi's 17th century walled city remains a chaotic warren, albeit an atmospheric one. Here, standing on Chawri Bazar road, one can see the domes of the Jama Masjid rise above a tangled mess of wires, packed buildings and congested roads. The image is representative of the need for interventions especially with regards to disaster risk reduction. Resultantly, this image became my muse for working towards a paper looking at such risk in the context of historic urban areas.
