Research Images As Art 2014/15 Gallery

Mystology #005, #006 & #013

Entry No 32.jpg
Mr Jonathan Haydock, Slade School of Fine Art

These photographic works show a series of scanned fungi found in the Laurentian forest, Quebec.

The idea behind this work was born from an interest in the relationship between nature and science.

The detailed macro aesthetic and the process of scanning these mushrooms might seem reminiscent of botanical exploration and scientific illustration, however, unlike the work of biologists, "Mystology" is concerned with preserving the dark mystery surrounding its subject.
